Museum Pass, Day Two
First thing in the morning we stopped by the Pantheon to see the Panthy-hose exhibit fully installed (it had opened officially the day before). Then we crossed the river to the Picasso Museum.
There we saw this man ruthlessly exploiting his child to mock art.
Then we went for a stroll through the Tuilleries
We were shocked to see a fallen tree in such a well-groomed, well-tended garden:
until we saw the sign
Then we went to the Orangerie, which just reopened this summer. The upstairs galleries were built especially to house these giant Monet canvases, 300 linear feet on 8 canvases. Sitting there with the paintings lit diffusely by the newly-installed skylights was transporting. All the tourists disappeared and it felt like we were sitting in Giverny under the weeping willows.
It's hard to imagine how gigantic they are, but T is here to help.
After all that museuming, we were beat and after a brief stop in the Place de la Concorde for a photo,
we went to Fauchon to ogle the goodies and revive ourselves with some chocolate.
Phew! That was a lot of museums . . .
